This research investigates the gender-specific effects of Italy’s 2011–2012 Fornero Pension Reform. While prior studies focused on overall economic impacts, little is known about how the reform affected men and women differently. A systematic review (PRISMA 2020) revealed a lack of causal analyses on this topic. To address this, a Difference-in-Differences approach using SHARE data assesses changes in retirement timing and labor force participation by gender. The study highlights how social and economic factors shape unequal outcomes, offering new insights for more equitable pension policy.
